MONT D'OR (Snowshoeing)

The Mont d’Or is a peak in the Vaud Pre-Alps, culminating at 2,174 metres. Its volcanic silhouette makes you dream and the view from the summit is breathtaking from this panorama open to the Alps and the Pre-Alps, all cantons combined!

Group size: 4 - 10 persons

Difficulty: Medium

Meeting point at the car park by the Col de Mosses road, in Comballaz. Start from the Chemin Dessus path, then follow the ridge on the eastern side of the mountain.

Approximately one hour of climbing without a break. Aperitif and picnic at the summit. Magnificent open view in the middle of the valley, between the Tour d’Aï and the Pic Chaussy.

Return by the west side, towards the Col de la Pierre du Moëllé and then by the forest path of the Mont crossing the mountain by its side to the car park.

DAY 1

Ascent of the Mont d’Or

Equipment: Anti-sweat underwear, warm and waterproof clothing for jacket and trousers, snowshoes, sticks, 1.5L water bottle, thermos flask, 20L bag, winter shoes.

Difficulty: 3.7 km – 825m ascent + / Return 4.6 km – 710m descent –

 

  • 10:00 – Check-up and departure from the Parking de La Comballaz.
  • 12:00 – Arrival at the top of the Mont d’Or.
  • 12:15 – Aperitif (local products), local products and picnic.
  • 13:30 – Descent via the western path.
  • 14:30 – Arrival at the Col de la Pierre du Moëlle.
  • 15:30 – Arrival at the La Comballaz car park.
