The descent is via the Matterta valley (Zermatt) where we can see another 4,000 metres. Very mountainous landscapes all along the trek!
Meeting in Gasenried for the start of the trek. Climb to the Alpja to set up camp. Description of the environment, aperitif and dip in the river.
The next day, the real trek begins! From the Alpja, we climb up the path to the Riedgletscher. The flat and easy glacier crossing is marked with reflective poles. Then a short climb to the Bordierhütte.
The descent path leads across the valley (Matterta) to Zermatt. The hike will give us a view of other 4,000’s in this very mountainous region.
Equipment: Anti-sweat underwear, warm clothes for the night in the bivouac and a waterproof jacket in case of bad weather, poles, 2.5L water bottles, thermos flask, 35L bag, mountain boots, inflatable mattress, sleeping bag, picnic.
