BIVOUAC TO THE COL DES PAUVRES

A hike in varied landscapes: forests, pastures, rocks. Between the Pointe des Savolaires and the Dent Rouge, the Col des Pauvres is a plateau, scree, giving it a particular, lunar character. Perfect to stay there at night and contemplate the stars.

Difficulty: Medium

Meeting point at the car park below the Euzanne mountain pasture. Possibility to meet at Plan sur Bex to minimize the number of cars.

Climb to the Col des Pauvres via the Euzanne mountain pasture. Wild and very mountainous landscape at the pass. View of the Grand Muveran and the whole mountain range!

We set up camp and climb the Pointe de Solavaires to finish the day.

Night and bivouac under the stars around a small fire!

DAY 1

Ascent of the Col des Pauvres & Pointe des Solavaires

Equipment: Anti-sweat underwear, warm clothes for the night and a waterproof jacket in case of bad weather, poles, 2.5L water bottles, thermos flask, 35L bag, mountain boots, inflatable mattress, sleeping bag, picnic.

Difficulty: 2.8 km – 670m difference in altitude

/ Pointe des Solavaires 1.2 km – 260m difference in altitude

10:30 – Check-up at the car park and departure for the Euzanne mountain pasture.
11:30 – Break and picnic on the mountain pasture.
12:30 – Ascent of the pass.
13:45 – Arrival at the Col des Pauvres, setting up camp.
15:00 – Ascent to the Pointe des Solavaires.
15:30 – Arrival at the summit, explanation of the surrounding landscape.
16:30 – Aperitif at the camp
19:00 – Supper around the fire, explanation of the celestial vault and sleep!

DAY 2

Visit/restaurant at the Euzanne mountain farm

Equipment: Anti-sweat underwear, warm clothes for the night and a waterproof jacket in case of bad weather, poles, 2.5L water bottles, thermos flask, 35L bag.

Difficulty: 2.8 km – 670m decline

08:30 – Breakfast and return to the start car park.
10:30 – Stop at the Alpage-Refuge d’Euzanne for a snack, local products!
12:30 – End of the adventure.
